This Week In Hospitality: A Podcast

September 17, 2026
A wide-ranging conversation on hospitality talent, the shift toward independent and boutique organizations, executive leadership and succession, industry advocacy, and emerging trends shaping hospitality and travel.
Alice Sherman recently had the opportunity to join This Week In Hospitality  for a conversation about the state of recruiting and retaining top talent in hospitality. One topic I keep coming back to is that we’re still hiring wrong. The best talent today isn’t always looking for the biggest brands. Increasingly, great leaders are drawn to independent, luxury, and boutique organizations where they can build something meaningful and make a real impact.

We also talked about what today’s executive resumes should look like, the evolving role of the Chief Commercial Officer in CEO succession, and my recent experience advocating for the hospitality industry on Capitol Hill.

And, of course, we covered some of the other interesting things happening across hospitality and travel, from timeshares and Gen Z to Disney’s growing cruise business.

Thanks to the This Week in Hospitality team for having me. It was a great conversation!
