Caribbean Hotel Investment Conference and Operations Summit (CHICOS) 2018 to be Held in Bermuda 

Bermuda will once again serve as host nation to the Caribbean Hotel Investment Conference and Operations Summit (CHICOS). The 8th Annual HVS CHICOS event will be held November 8 & 9 at the Fairmont Southampton Hotel in Bermuda. CHICOS brings together more than 300 regional and international investors and operators, in addition to the numerous other industry stakeholders each year, all to discuss the region's markets and possibilities.

Many markets in the U.S. have experienced substantial increases in inventory, with some recording year-over-year supply increases of 5.0% or more. Thus far, occupancy levels have generally remained strong, as most markets have seen demand growth keep pace with supply. The same cannot be said for average rates. While a review of the history of dual-branded hotels and some basic concepts are necessary, this article will hope to provide new data and prove, or disprove, some commonly accepted themes related to dual-branded hotels in the U.S.

HVS Market Pulse: Greater Phoenix, AZ

Following several years of strong RevPAR growth leading up to Super Bowl XLIX in 2015, growth in the Phoenix market has slowed somewhat. ADR growth was modest in 2016, as much of the market experienced a post-Super Bowl correction, but ADR rebounded in 2017. Occupancy growth has remained relatively modest since 2016, slowing even more in 2017 but remaining positive. Year-to-date data through May 2018 illustrate modest increases in both occupancy and ADR, resulting in moderate RevPAR gains.
