AccorHotels Debuts Fairmont Brand in the Maldives

France-based Accor S.A. (“AccorHotels”) has debuted its Fairmont brand in the Maldives with the opening of Fairmont Maldives Sirru Fen Fushi. Located on Gaakoshibee island, Shaviyani Atoll, which boasts one of the country’s largest resort lagoons, the property marks Fairmont’s entry to the Maldives and AccorHotels’ third development in the Maldives since its entry to the country in 2017. Fairmont Maldives Sirru Fen Fushi is an all-villa resort that offers 112 villas, ranging from one-bedroom villas to three-bedrooms villas as well as tented jungle villas, each with a private pool. Its four food and beverage (F&B) outlets range from all-day dining, fine-dining, Japanese restaurant & bar, as well as an all-bamboo bar called Onu Onu. The resort also features a spa with a 2,000-square-metre wellness area, a kids’ club, and teen town for young adult guests.

Marriott Opens 386-key Westin Perth in Australia

Marriott International (“Marriott”) has debuted its Westin brand in Perth, Australia. Housed within a 28-storey tower, the 386-key Westin Perth sits within the crown of Hibernian Place, a new A$500 million dining and leisure precinct developed by the Buckeridge family’s BGC Group on the former Perth Fire Station site. Westin Perth will provide 386 guestrooms and suites, the city’s largest ballroom at 800 square metres, a day spa, a fitness centre, a 20-metre infinity pool, and 2,000 pieces of Australian art. In addition, within the Hibernian Place complex, there are also a 2,000-square-metre outdoor plaza and other dining offerings including acclaimed chef Guy Grossi’s first restaurant outside Victoria, Garum. Westin Perth marks the first of five Marriott International’s luxury hotels to open in Australia and New Zealand in 2018. Following the Westin Perth will be the opening of 312-key W Hotel in Brisbane, 255-key Four Points by Sheraton in Auckland, 297-key Four Points by Sheraton in Sydney and 286-key Westin Brisbane.

Bvlgari Hotels & Resorts to Debut Hotel in Tokyo, Japan in 2022

Bvlgari Hotels & Resorts (“Bvlgari Hotels”) is set to make its first foray into Japan with the Bvlgari Hotel Tokyo, the brand’s ninth property worldwide and its fourth in Asia Pacific. While not exactly new to the Japan market with two existing Bvlgari restaurants operating in Osaka and Tokyo, Bvlgari Hotel Tokyo will represent the brand’s first hotel in the nation. An agreement has been reached with developer Mitsui Fudosan Co. Ltd., a leading global real estate company headquartered in Tokyo, to open the flagship Bvlgari Hotel within the large-scale, mixed-use development planned for the Tokyo Station area. Occupying the top seven floors, from 39th to 45th storeys, the hotel will offer 98 guestrooms with configurations consisting of mainly twin and double rooms, alongside luxury suites, and an extraordinary Bvlgari Suites. Other facilities will include Il Bar, Il Ristorante, the fireplace Lounge, Il Cioccolato store, a ballroom, 1,500 square-metre Bvlgari Spa, a fitness centre, and a 25-metre indoor pool. Slated to open in 2022, Bvlgari Hotel Tokyo will join the brand’s pipeline list which comprises of upcoming openings in Shanghai in 2018, and Moscow and Paris in 2020. 

South East Asia Hotel Investors’ Summit (SEAHIS)

Chee Hok Yean, President of HVS Asia Pacific will be speaking on a panel with Malcolm Kerr, Director of KerrWood Limited (Hotel Asset Strategies) on the topic “Do investors really price in risk properly?”.
