MeliĆ” Hotels International announce four new signings in Vietnam

Meliá Hotels International have announced the signings of four new hotels in Vietnam, representing debuts in the financial city of Ho Chi Minh and the tourist bay area of Halong. In Ho Chi Minh City, the three new signings will replace existing hotels that will undergo rebranding and renovation. Replacing Amena Residence and Suites on the banks of the Saigon River, the 159-key Meliá Saigon Central will open in 2019. Similarly, the 72-key INNSIDE Saigon Central and the 115-key INNSIDE Saigon Mariamman will replace the existing Amena Suite Hotel Ton That Dam and Lavender Boutique hotel respectively. INNSIDE Saigon Central is slated to open in 2018, while INNSIDE Saigon Mariamman will open in 2020. Elsewhere in Halong, the new signing of INNSIDE Halong will provide 251 rooms and is expected to open in 2019. Other facilities that the new hotel will provide include a fitness center, swimming pool, spa, bar and 500 square metre of meeting space. INNSIDE Halong will be located near to Dragon Park, the largest theme park in Southeast Asia.

Ascott signs four properties with 1,200 units across Malaysia, the Philippines, and China

Singapore-based CapitaLand Limited’s (“CapitaLand”) wholly-owned serviced residence owner-operator, The Ascott Limited (“Ascott”) has signed management contracts to operate four properties with 1,200 units across Malaysia, the Philippines, and China. Ascott will be entering new destinations such as Melaka, Malaysia and Davao, Philippines while expanding its presence in existing markets such as Guangzhou, China and Cebu, Philippines. The 578-unit Somerset Melaka Island, located in proximity to an upcoming free trade zone and free port, will be part of a mixed-use development and is slated to open in 2022. The 250-unit Citadines Riverside Davao, located within a 15-minute drive from downtown Davao City, will be part of an integrated development and is scheduled to open in 2021. In existing markets, the 180-unit lyf Cebu City, expected to open in 2021, will be located in the third tower of the mixed-use development, Base Line Center and will mark lyf’s first foray into the country. Guangzhou will be welcoming the 192-unit Citadines Panyu Guangzhou to the city in 2019. With such additions, Ascott targets to double its global portfolio to 160,000 units by 2023.

InterContinental Hotels Group signs Holiday Inn Express Singapore Serangoon

InterContinental Hotels Group (“IHG”) has entered into a partnership with Toledo International for the signing of Holiday Inn Express Singapore Serangoon. The select service hotel will provide 120 rooms and is slated to open in 2018. Strategically located at the crossroads of Little India and Serangoon, Holiday Inn Express Singapore Serangoon will be within walking distance from various food and beverage outlets and is nearby Singapore’s commercial and industrial areas. The new signing represents the fourth Holiday Inn Express in Singapore, adding to the brand’s existing portfolio of 1,114 rooms in Orchard Road, Clarke Quay and Katong.

Dusit International to redevelop flagship Bangkok hotel from January 2019

Thailand’s Dusit International has announced that it will delay the renovations of its flagship hotel, Dusit Thani Bangkok until January 2019. The hotel, once the tallest edifice in Bangkok, was set to be demolished on April 16th 2018 and rebuilt as part of a US$1.1 billion mixed-use project in partnership with Central Pattana. The new mixed-use development will feature retail areas, office spaces, residences and a large green space in addition to the hotel. The extended closing date is expected to allow Dusit and its partners additional time to add value to the upcoming project.
