Langham Opens First Transit Hotel In India Return to Headlines

Langham Hospitality Group has opened India's first transit hotel, the Eaton Smart New Delhi Airport Transit Hotel. The hotel is located within the airport's Terminal 3, and offers 93 rooms in total, with 57 in the International wing and a further 36 in the Domestic wing. Facilities at the hotel include a fully-equipped gymnasium and an all-day café dining restaurant serving international and local cuisines. Eaton Smart is one of three Eaton hospitality brands under Langham, the other two being the upscale Eaton Luxe and the extended stay Eaton House.

 
Wyndham Announces New Deals In China Return to Headlines

Wyndham Hotel Group continues to expand its presence in China with the signing of three new Ramada hotels, including the first to be managed by the company. The new managed property will be the 496-key Ramada Plaza Sanya, which is the second agreement between Hainan Mingboda Real Estate Development Co. Ltd. And Wyndham, after the Wyndham Hotel Sanya deal signed in 2010. The other two Ramada franchise agreements are the 320-key Ramada Plaza Shaoguan City Center and the 278-key Ramada Suzhou North. The Ramada Plaza Sanya and the Ramada Plaza Shaoguan City Center are scheduled to open in 2012 while the Ramada Suzhou North is slated to open in 2013.

 
Landmark Beijing-Shanghai High-Speed Railway Set To Commence Operations Return to Headlines

The Ministry of Railways of China has announced that the high-speed rail line linking Beijing and Shanghai is set to open by the end of June 2011. The 1,318-kilometres line will run 90 pairs of trains daily, with trains travelling at either 300 km/h or 250 km/h. The fastest travel time between the two cities will be approximately four hours and 48 minutes, which is about half the time trains currently take. The railway has a monitoring system that recognises any abnormalities, such as extreme weather or earthquakes, and will alert the railway's power and signal systems, forcing trains to slow down or even stop.

 
Grand Hyatt Brand Marks Its Entry Into Malaysia Return to Headlines
Hyatt Hotels Corporation will see its Grand Hyatt Brand make its foray into the Malaysian hotel market in 2012. Hyatt has an agreement with Bahagia Investment Corporation (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd to manage the 412-room Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur, to be located in the Golden Triangle area of the city, in a prime location on Jalan Pinang road within proximity to the Kuala Lumpur City Centre and the Petronas Towers. The hotel will occupy floors 17 through 39 of a mixed-use development, offering facilities including four food and beverage outlets and approximately 3,000 square metres of meeting and event space.
 
Hotel Novotel Auckland Airport Opens Return to Headlines
Accor Group, in collaboration with Tainui Group Holdings and Auckland Airport, has announced the opening of the 263-rooom Hotel Novotel Auckland Airport. The hotel is located within proximity to the international terminal of the airport, which handles approximately 13 million passengers annually. On top of a conference centre with 12 meeting rooms and also an all-day-dining restaurant serving international cuisines, the hotel also has guestrooms with double glazed windows so as to minimise noise generated from aircrafts taking off. The Hotel Novotel Auckland Airport is expected to provide a huge boost to the New Zealand's tourism industry in the wake of the Christchurch earthquake earlier in the year.
