Hanting Inns and Hotels (Hanting), a China-based budget hotel
group, has plans to raise approximately US$100 million
through an initial public offering (IPO) in the United
States. According to reports, Hanting is expected to issue
nine million shares of American Depository Shares. Once the
IPO is successful, Hanting will become the third budget
hotel group from China to list in the United States after
Home Inns and 7 Days Inn. |

Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts (Four Seasons) has announced
plans to develop four new properties across India by 2015.
The new hotels are likely to comprise two hotels in
Bangalore and Gurgaon, and two resorts in Kerala and Jaipur.
These hotels are expected to add 1,000 rooms in the market
and target the Business and Leisure segments. The
developments are part of efforts by Four Seasons to leverage
on the resurgent hospitality industry in India. Currently,
Four Seasons operates 86 hotels across the globe. |

The Macau authorities have announced that a maximum of 500
gaming tables will be allowed to develop over the next three
years as Macau targets to diversify its economy. Currently,
Macau has approximately 5,000 gaming tables and gaming makes up
70% of Macau’s total revenue. Existing projects such as the
Galaxy on Cotai Strip have been included in the existing supply
and local analysts are of the opinion that yield on a per table
basis is likely to improve in the medium-term. |

The South Korean government has announced plans to develop an
ecotourism belt along the demilitarised zone (DMZ) between
South Korea and North Korea. The DMZ is approximately 248
kilometres long and four kilometres wide, and is renowned
for its richness in biodiversity. An observation centre for
monitoring and preservation of natural wildlife forms part
of the development plans. In addition, the authorities also
have plans to set up parks and meeting centres for students
across the borders to interact. |

Carlson Hotels (Carlson) will introduce its Radisson brand in
the capital of Brunei, Bandar Seri Begawan, when it takes
over the management of the current Sheraton Utama on 1 May
2010. The 142-key hotel, which is located in downtown Bandar
Seri Begawan, will undergo a refurbishment exercise
involving its guestrooms and public facilities. The opening
of the hotel is in line with Carlson’s plan to add 250
hotels in key and emerging markets by 2015. |
