Shangri-La To Open Three Hotels In North China In 2013 Return to Headlines
Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts (Shangri-La) will be opening three new hotels in the coastal cities of Qinhuangdao, Tianjin and Tangshan in North China in 2013. The latest additions of hotels will add to the group’s portfolio of North China properties in Beijing and Inner Mongolia, and this portfolio will rise to 12 hotels in the next three years. International Tourism Recovers Return to Headlines
International tourist arrivals increased by 7% in the first four months of 2010, totalling over 258 million arrivals, with April’s 3% increase marking the seventh month of growth after 14 consecutive months of negative results. The improvement in overall sentiments during these four months of the year is also reflected in the rise of the World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) Tourism Confidence Index. Fifty percent of the experts in the UNWTO Panel of Tourism evaluated the period of January to April as ‘better’ or ‘much better’ as compared to 34% for the period of September to December 2009. Current growth rates suggest that international tourist arrivals for 2010 may exceed the forecast of +4%.
