Millennium & Copthorne Makes Taiwan Debut Return to Headlines

Millennium & Copthorne Hotels (M&C) has made its debut in Taiwan, with the Millennium Vee Hotel Taichung. Located in Taichung, Taiwan's third largest city, this marks the group's first M&C-branded property in the country. The Millenium Vee Hotel Taichung will be the first hotel in Taiwan to offer 4G Wi-Fi services in all 237 rooms and will be the first hotel in Taichung with a rooftop sky bar. This property is the first M&C-branded hotel in Taiwan, however the company already has a footing in the country as the owner of the Grand Hyatt Taipei.

 
Carlson Rezidor and Panorama Group Announce Indonesian Joint Venture Return to Headlines

Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group has announced the signing of a joint venture agreement with Indonesia-based Panorama Group. Under the agreement, 20 Radisson and Park Inn by Radisson hotels will be developed in Indonesia over the next seven years. The joint venture will see the formation of PT. Carlson Panorama Hospitality, which will be based in Indonesia. The 20 hotels in the pipeline will be located in locations such as Jakarta, Bali, Surabaya and Yogyakarta, and in emerging cities such as Manado, Makassar, Palembang and Medan.

 
Hilton Enters Myanmar and Launches Conrad in Philippines Return to Headlines
Moving forward with in its expansion in Southeast Asia, Hilton Worldwide will be entering Myanmar with its Hilton Hotels & Resorts brand. An agreement has been signed between Hilton Worldwide and LP Holding Co. Ltd to manage the Hilton Yangon in Kyauktada Township, Yangon which will open in 2014 with 300 rooms. Additionally, Hilton Worldwide will debut its Conrad brand in the Philippines with an agreement with SM Hotels & Conventions Corporation. The 350-room Conrad Manila will be developed at the SM Bay City development in Manila Bay and is expected to open in mid 2015.
 
Singapore Airlines and Virgin America Launch Partnership Return to Headlines
Singapore Airlines and Virgin America have expanded their existing codeshare agreement and launched a new frequent flyer partnership. Under this partnership, members of both airlines' loyalty programmes will be able to earn and redeem miles for travel on either airline. Singapore Airlines customers will be able to fly to more destinations in the United States, including Chicago, Fort Lauderdale, Las Vegas, Palm Springs, Philadelphia, Portland, San Diego, Seattle and Washington D.C.
 
Accor Launches Indonesia-centric Brand Return to Headlines
Accor Asia Pacific has launched its Indonesia-centric brand, the Grand Mercure Maha Cipta, an upscale brand tailor-made for Indonesia. The brand will debut with the 483-room Grand Mecure Jakarta Harmoni which is anticipated to open later this year. Similar to its China-centric Grand Mercure Mei Jue, Maha Cipta has been designed to appeal to the large Indonesian domestic market. Maha Cipta's touch points will include greeting guests in Bahasa, local-fruit flavoured French pastries, traditional music and dance performances and many others including batik painting workshops. This launch comes after the success of Mei Jue in China, which will double its hotel inventory to 26 in the next three years.
