Jason Wight, Senior Vice President Calgary Office has risen through the HVS ranks since starting his post-university career over 10 years ago. As a Calgary born and raised native, Jason has Western Canada in his bones and hotels in his blood. He completed his schooling at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology and then at the University of Calgary’s Haskayne School of Business where he received a Bachelor of Hotel and Resort Management Degree. Jason has attained designation in Canada, having completed the requirements to obtain the AACI designation from the Appraisal Institute of Canada. He is also a member of the Real Estate Council of Alberta (RECA).
As a hospitality valuation consultant Jason has travelled the length and breadth of Western Canada. He has worked on a range of projects, from valuations of iconic luxury hotels located in urban centres to feasibility studies for proposed limited-service hotels in small resource-driven communities located throughout Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, and British Columbia. In addition, Jason has a special interest in his home city of Calgary, where he has conducted over 40 hotel studies. Prior to joining HVS, Jason held various operational roles in the hospitality industry.
Jason has authored several articles on various topics relevant to the hotel industry, including Understanding Oil and Gas Lodging Markets in Western Canada and Resource Markets and the Canadian Hotel Industry. Jason is also an engaging and knowledgeable speaker invited to share his expertise on a regular basis.
