Ritz-Carlton announces new hotel in Mumbai Return to Headlines
The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company has signed an agreement with a consortium led by Oberoi Realty and Sahana Group to open Ritz-Carlton Mumbai. The second Ritz-Carlton in the country after the Ritz-Carlton Bangalore in Karnataka forms part of a mixed used development in an iconic high-rise tower with luxury residential spaces. Architect Kohn Pederson Fox and interior design Tony Chi will take inspiration from Indian culture to create luxurious contemporary accommodation and suites. Located at Worli, new business district at central Mumbai, the hotel is expected to open early 2017 and will offer an ocean-view bar, two specialty and fine dining restaurants, a Ritz-CarltonSpa, and extensive banquet and meeting spaces.

One Eleven planned in Lombok Return to Headlines

Luxury resort developer FPD Asia has unveiled plans to develop its next resort property One Eleven Lombok on 50 hectares of beachfront land on Ekas Bay, Lombok. The initial phase of construction includes 21 villas, main resort facilities, a retreat offering yoga and spa treatments, and several restaurants. The second phase will see the remaining 40 villas built. The resort’s private villas range in size and configuration from one to five bedrooms each with private swimming pool.

 
Jumeirah Group announces expansion Return to Headlines

Luxury hotel company Jumeirah Group has announced massive expansion plans, with a dedicated warchest of eight billion Emirati dirhams (US$2.2 billion). The expansion will see addition of 4,300 hotel rooms spread over 11 countries globally by 2017. Hotels currently under construction include hotels and resorts in Guangzhou, Sanya, Hangzhou, Macau, Mumbai, Bali and Bangkok. The group operates 22 hotels in 11 countries, including seven properties in Dubai.

 
SriLankan Airlines adds Chongqing charters Return to Headlines

SriLankan Airlines and Beijing-based travel operator Chongqing Huapont International Travel Service signed an agreement to launch scheduled charter flights to and from Chongqing in Sichuan province. From July 1, the airline will be operating a weekly flight to and from Colombo, through Bangkok. China is a growing source market for Sri Lanka with 54,288 visitors in 2013, and numbers are expected to double this year.

 
Hilton Worldwide launches DoubleTree in Indonesia Return to Headlines

Hilton Worldwide announced the opening of DoubleTree by Hilton Jakarta. The hotel is conveniently located two kilometres away from Jakarta’s key commercial zone and the high-end Jalan Diponegoro area, where several embassies and many government officials reside. The opening marks the addition of a third brand under Hilton Worldwide’s portfolio into Indonesia, following Hilton Bandung and Conrad Bali. The 15-storey new-build opens wih 253 rooms, three dining outlets, outdoor pools, seven meetings and events rooms spanning over 1,400 square meters, and 24-hour business and fitness centers.

 
Royal Caribbean International launches year-round deployment in Singapore Return to Headlines

Global cruise brand Royal Caribbean International announced its year-round deployment in Singapore for the first time from 2015, starting with its ship Legend of the Seas in the summer season and followed by Mariner of the Seas in the year-end. While based in Singapore, Legend of the Seas will offer a variety of three- to 10-night round-trips throughout Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam through mid-November. There also will be two consecutive 14-night itineraries in September, a southbound sailing from Singapore to Fremantle (Perth), Australia, followed by a northbound return, both calling at Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia and western Australia.
