South Korea Wins Bid To Host 2018 Winter Olympics Return to Headlines

South Korea's Pyeongchang county has been selected by the International Olympic Committee to host the 2018 Winter Olympics. VNAT has indicated that this strong growth was driven largely by Chinese visitor arrivals, which increased by more than 50% year-on-year to hit 662,600 visitors, making it by far Vietnam's largest feeder market. The other top feeder markets, including South Korea, Japan and the USA, all saw year-on-year increases in arrivals as well.

The 3R (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) Programme, an initiative aimed at helping hotels achieve better waste management and increase recycling rates, has been launched for the hotels in Singapore. A joint collaboration between Singapore Hotels Association (SHA) and the National Environment Agency (NEA), this programme is part of NEA's effort to encourage different industry sectors to play their part in achieving the recycling rate target of 70% by 2030. Estimated figures have shown that hotels in Singapore produce about 60,000 tonnes of solid waste a year and less than 10% of the waste is being recycled. Approximately 35% of SHA-member hotels have already signed up for the 3R programme.
