First Banyan Tree Spa Opens In Singapore Return to Headlines

Banyan Tree has marked its debut in Singapore, its home ground, with the opening of the Banyan Tree Spa Marina Bay Sands, located on the 55th level of the iconic Marina Bay Sands Hotel. This is the first Banyan Tree Spa that will be centred on the timeless concept of the Tree of Life. The Banyan Tree Spa Marina Bay Sands will boast 15 treatment rooms and 35 luxurious treatments and services, with well-loved favourites that include a comprehensive menu of 90-minute or 120-minute massages, body scrubs, facials and beauty treatments. Acclaimed massages that will be featured range from traditional Thai, Swedish, Balinese and Hawaiian Lomi Lomi to specialist sports and back massages. Guests staying in the hotel spa suites will also be able to enjoy in-room massages.

 
Hilton Opens In Hangzhou Return to Headlines

Hilton Hotels & Resorts has opened a new property in Hangzhou, China. The 349-key Hilton Hangzhou Qiandao Lake Resort is the second Hilton property in mainland China after the Hilton Sanya Resort, bringing Hilton's portfolio in mainland China to 18 hotels. The resort's rooms offer private balconies with lake or mountain views. The new property is set on the shores of Qiandao Lake and facilities at the hotel include four food and beverage outlets including a Southeast Asian restaurant, a specialty Hangzhou and Ningbo regional Chinese restaurant, and a lobby lounge with lake views.

 
Starwood To Expand Spa Brands In Asia Return to Headlines

Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide has announced plans to increase its portfolio of hotel spas at Sheraton and Westin properties across Asia and the Middle East. Sheraton is set to expand its spa portfolio by nearly 50%, with ten openings this year including Shine Spa for Sheraton's debut at the Sheraton Yantai Golden Beach Resort, Sheraton Guangzhou Hotel, Sheraton Beijing Dongcheng Hotel and six other properties across Asia. The wellness brand will also open this year at the Sheraton Baku Airport Hotel in Azerbaijan. Meanwhile, Westin will add six spas in 2011, increasing the Heavenly Spa portfolio by almost 20%, with the opening of the Heavenly Spa by Westin at The Westin Abu Dhabi Golf Resort & Spa and four hotels across China including The Westin Wuhan Wuchang.

 
ANA And AirAsia To Launch New Low-Cost Carrier Return to Headlines
All Nipon Airways (ANA) and AirAsia have partnered together to form a new low-cost airline called AirAsia Japan to expand the budget-fare services in Northeast Asia. The new low-cost airline will be based at the Narita International Airport and will serve both domestic and international destinations in Northeast Asia with flights to South Korea, Taiwan and mainland China once it commences operations. The airline is scheduled to be operational in August 2012. AirAsia had also announced in a statement that Peach Aviation, which is ANA's other low-fare venture, would not be competing with this new venture as Peach Aviation will not be based in Narita.
 
Dusit International To Debut In The Maldives Return to Headlines
Thailand-based Dusit International has unveiled plans to set up its first property in the Maldives. The new Dusit property will be located in Mudhdhoo Island, in Baa Atoll, northwest of Malé. The Dusit Thani Maldives Mudhdhoo Island, which is 40 minutes away from Malé via seaplane, is expected to open later this year in mid-December. The property will feature 46 beach villas, two beach houses, 30 water villas, 20 ocean villas, and two ocean houses that are considered to be the largest in the Maldives. Other facilities will include a 50-metre swimming pool, pool bar, overwater and grill restaurants, a tree top spa, tennis courts and a dive centre.
