St Regis Debuts In Thailand Return to Headlines

Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide’s St Regis Brand has made its foray into the Thailand market with the opening of The St Regis Bangkok. Designed by world-renowned Brennan Beer Gorman Architects and developed by Rajadamri Lodging Limited, the hotel is situated in the heart of Bangkok along Rajadamri Road. At 47 storeys high, The St Regis Bangkok has 227 guestrooms including 51 suites and 53 residences, with guestrooms ranging from 45 to 250 square metres. In terms of meeting facilities, the hotel has a 1,515-square-metre ballroom to cater to the needs of major corporations and financial institutions located within proximity.

 
Shanghai Disneyland Begins Construction Return to Headlines

Shanghai Disney Resort, The Walt Disney Company’s first theme park in mainland China, has recently broken ground. The resort is located in the Pudong New Area in the city, and will house several themed areas and a central green space of over 46,000 square metres for outdoor events. Robert A Iger, President and CEO of The Walt Disney Company, has commented that the new resort will be authentically Disney and yet distinctly Chinese. Shanghai Disney Resort, which will see an initial investment of approximately US$1.4 billion, is slated to open in 2015.

 
W Hotels Expands Into Malaysia Return to Headlines

Malaysia is slated to have its first W Hotel by 2016, to be situated along Jalan Ampang within Kuala Lumpur's Golden Triangle area. The 150-key hotel is a collaboration between Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide and Dijaya Corporation Bhd, and is expected to inject new life into the city’s hotel industry. During the signing ceremony, Dijaya Corporation also indicated that the company would work towards a Green Building Index rating for the hotel. W Kuala Lumpur will feature four food and beverage outlets and approximately 1,200 square metres of meeting space.

 
New Luxury Hotel Brand For Regal Return to Headlines
Hong Kong-based Regal Hotels Group will be debuting its luxury brand – Regal Royale – in China’s Jiangsu Province. To be developed by Ning Hu Real Estate (Kunshan) Co Ltd, the hotel is located in the city of Kunshan, served by the Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport and Wuxi Sunan International Airport. The 300-room Regal Royale Hotel Kunshan will be marketed as a five-star premium brand of the group and is scheduled to open in 2013. Currently, Regal Hotels Group manages and operates six hotels in Hong Kong and another five in mainland China.
 
Hilton Expands Presence In New Delhi Return to Headlines

New Delhi’s business district of Mayur Vihar is set to see two new properties under Hilton Worldwide. The hotel group has signed a management agreement with Eros Resorts and Hotels Ltd to bring in a fourth Hilton Hotel and the first DoubleTree by Hilton hotel in India. The Hilton New Delhi Mayur Vihar and the DoubleTree by Hilton New Delhi Mayur Vihar will be offering 173 guestrooms and 196 guestrooms, respectively. The two hotels, which are part of a twin-tower conversion project in the capital city, will add on to Hilton Worldwide’s four hotels in the country.
