IHG Debuts Holiday Inn Express Brand In Indonesia Return to Headlines

Indonesia will have its first Holiday Inn Express in Bali’s Legian District come early 2013. The proposed 160-room Holiday Inn Express Bali Legian, a partnership between InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) and PT Wismatama Indah Makmur, is situated along Jalan Imam Bonjol, which is a few minutes’ walk away from Istana Kuta Galleria and other food and beverage establishments. The Holiday Inn Express brand, which has 30 hotels in Asia Pacific currently, is targeted at leisure and business travellers who are looking for both convenience and value when it comes to their accommodation. IHG will be opening new Holiday Inn Express hotels in countries such as Thailand, Singapore and India within the next few years.

 
New Sailing Event In Singapore Return to Headlines

Singapore will play host to the Bay Challenge, a new sailing event held in conjunction with Boat Asia 2011, from 14 to 15 May 2011. The event will be held against the backdrop of Marina Bay’s spectacular skyline which includes Marina Bay Sands, The Arts Science Museum, The Promontory at Marina Bay and Marina Bay Financial Centre. The Bay Challenge aims to attract at least 10,000 spectators over the two-day event and is envisaged to play a big part in introducing a broader nautical lifestyle to a larger audience. Spectators at the Bay Challenge at Marina Bay can also visit Boat Asia 2011, Asia’s largest boat show with a showcase of sailing yachts, powerboats and other prestigious lifestyle brands.

 
New Raffles Hotel Opens In Seychelles Return to Headlines

Raffles has made its entry into Seychelles with the opening of the Raffles Praslin Seychelles. The resort, which is a 15-minute helicopter ride from the capital of Mahé, features 86 villas including one- and two-bedroom villa suites with private plunge pools and equipped with luxury amenities, such as 43-inch plasma televisions and Nespresso coffee machines. Guests at the resort will also have access to a 500-metre white sand beach overlooking Curieuse National Marine Park. Other leisure activities at the Raffles Praslin Seychelles include a range of non-motorised water sports, diving, snorkelling and scenic island excursions.

 
China To Be Biggest Outbound Tourism Market Of Emerging BRIC Economies Return to Headlines
China has been said to be the key emerging market for the travel and tourism industry for the next five years in the inaugural WTM Vision Conference held in Milan. According to Euromonitor International, the country is expected to be the biggest outbound tourism market of the emerging BRIC (Brazil, Russia, India and China) economies, reaching a total of 20 million new outbound departures between 2010 and 2015. The China Tourism Academy forecast that Chinese international travellers would spend a record US$55 billion in 2011, an increase of 15% compared to the US$48 billion spent by Chinese overseas travellers in 2010.
 
Anantara Makes Its Foray Into Vietnamese Market Return to Headlines

Anantara has announced that it will be opening its first property in Vietnam in July this year. The Anantara Mui Ne Resort and Spa will be located next to the town of Phan Thiet in Binh Thuan Province, along a shoreline spot on a former coconut plantation. Following a traditional Vietnamese architectural design, the resort offers 89 rooms, suites and pool villas, as well as a variety of banqueting, event and meeting facilities, including five conference rooms for up to 250 participants. Other facilities at the resort include an open-air seafood restaurant on the beach and the signature Anantara Spa.
