IHG Expands In China’s Coastal South Return to Headlines
InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has signed four hotel contracts in Hong Kong at the Hotel Investment Conference Asia Pacific (HICAP). The contracts will cover the group’s expansion in Taipei, Hong Kong and Xiamen and will eventually add more than 700 rooms to its portfolio. The hotels in the pipeline are the 127-room Hotel Indigo Xiamen Harbour View, the 173-room Hotel Indigo Taipei Xinyi, the 125-room Holiday Inn Express Taipei Xinyi and the 300-room Holiday Inn Express Hong Kong Mongkok. The first three hotels are expected to open by 2011 while the Holiday Inn Express in Hong Kong is slated to open by 2014.
 
Langham Hotels International To Open The Langham Shenzhen In 2012 Return to Headlines
The 352-room Langham Shenzhen will be opening in 2012 in Futian, Shenzhen’s new business and commercial district. The hotel, which is a collaboration between Langham Hotels International and Shenzhen East Pacific Group, will be part of the Shenzhen East Pacific International Centre. The whole complex, which will include serviced apartments, luxury retail and commercial space, is conveniently situated near the Hong Kong border and 30 minutes’ drive from the airport. Facilities at the Langham Shenzhen include the Chuan Spa, the only international spa based on the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine, as well as both indoor and outdoor swimming pools.
 
Carlson Plans To Expand Portfolio In India To More Than 100 Hotels By 2015 Return to Headlines
Carlson has announced that it plans to have more than 100 hotels in operation in India by 2015. Three hotels have already commenced operations during the first half of this year, with another five more coming up by the end of the year. These include the 178-room Radisson Hotel New Delhi Paschim Vihar, the 120-room Radisson Hotel Rudrapur, the 73-room Country Inn & Suites Gurgaon Sector 12, the 94-room Park Plaza Ahmedabad and the 80-room Park Plaza Faridabad. The company has also announced that there are already plans to have 15 more hotels in the country in 2011.
 
Westin Set To Return To Singapore Return to Headlines
Starwood Hotels and Resorts is expected to manage a hotel under the Westin brand in Asia Square Tower Two in Singapore. The Westin brand makes a return to the city-state after an absence of about a decade, with the group previously managing two Westin hotels in the Raffles City complex till the end of 2001. The new 280-room Westin hotel will occupy the 32nd to 46th floors of Tower Two of the Asia Square development, which includes 26 levels of offices and also retail spaces on the first two floors. The hotel is slated to open in 2013.
 
Hyatt Announces Expansion Plans In Emerging Cities And Resort Destinations In China Return to Headlines
Hyatt Hotels Corporation is planning to expand its portfolio in China with the signing of management agreements for 11 new Hyatt-branded hotels in emerging cities and resort destinations. These 11 new hotels will be on top of the other Hyatt properties currently under development in places such as Chengdu, Chongqing, Guangzhou, Hangzhou, Nanjing, Ningbo, Sanya Sunny Bay, Suzhou, Wuxi and Xuzhou. Four of the properties currently under development, the Park Hyatt Ningbo, Hyatt Regency Jinan, Hyatt Regency Guiyang and Hyatt Regency Qingdao, are slated to open in 2011.
