InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG), the world’s largest
hotel group by number of rooms, has signed a management
contract of five hotels with HNA Hotels and Resorts Group.
The 271-key Holiday Inn Beijing Sifang and 290-key Crowne
Plaza Changchun Noble will be added to the IHG portfolio in
2012, and the 200-key InterContinental Haikou and 300-key
Crowne Plaza Kuming West will open in 2014. In addition, the
300-key InterContinental Changchun will open in 2015. |

Best Western International will add a new resort property in
Thailand to its portfolio this year. Situated on Haad Rin
Beach at the south of Koh Phangan, Thailand, the 105-key
Phanganburi Resort and Spa will open in November 2010. Upon
completion of renovation works, the resort will feature two
swimming pools, an on-beach restaurant, an outdoor pool bar,
a spa and meeting spaces. |

Ibis, an international economy hotel brand under Accor Group,
has announced its plan to introduce a franchise development
model to support its brand expansion in China. Four
franchise contracts have been signed, and the company
anticipates up to 15 agreements to be signed in 2010. Two
properties under the franchise contract will open in 2010 in
city centre locations of Shanghai. |

Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts will open two properties in
Jiangsu Province, China in 2010. These two properties will add
on to the company’s six existing hotels in the Yangtze River
Delta and two more properties opening in the next two years in
the Yangtze River Delta. The 670-key Shangri-La Hotel Nanjing
will be located in Gulou District, offering views of the Xuan Wu
Lake. Located to the northeast of Nanjing, the 371-key
Shangri-La Hotel Yangzhou will be the first international luxury
hotel in the city. |

Les Suites Orient Shanghai, a member of Epoque Hotels, is set
to soft open in May 2010. Situated within the original Bund
Heritage building, this boutique property will feature 168
rooms including 43 suites, three food and beverage outlets,
three multi-functional meeting rooms, a fitness centre with
a Zen platform and a business centre. |

International Visitor Arrivals To Hong Kong Soar For First
Three Months Of 2010 |

Benefitting from a strong rebound from the international and
long-haul markets, as well as mainland China, Hong Kong
witnessed an increase in international visitor arrivals
during the first three months of 2010. The number of
international visitor arrivals for this period recorded
approximately 8.6 million, an increase by around 16.5% as
compared to the same period of 2009. Visitor arrivals from
mainland China, Taiwan and South Korea witnessed
double-digit growths in the first quarter of 2010. |
