Shangri-La Hotel, Lhasa To Open In 2012 Return to Headlines
Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts (Shangri-La) will open a new hotel in 2012 in Lhasa, located on the Qinghai-Tibetan plateau, the highest region on earth. The 350-key luxury urban resort, owned and operated by Shangri-La, will be located on Lingkor Road, 1.5 kilometres away from the Potala Palace, a famous 7th century complex at the centre of Lhasa. In addition to 350 rooms, the hotel will feature a variety of dining and entertainment options including an all-day dining restaurant, a Chinese restaurant, a bar and lobby lounge, recreational facilities such as an indoor swimming pool and health club and 1,700 square metres of meeting space.
 
Hyatt Continues Global Expansion Of Andaz Brand Hotels Return to Headlines
Hyatt Hotels Corporation (Hyatt) has announced the signing of management agreements for three Andaz properties in Sanya Sunny Bay, China, Delhi, India and Providenciales, Turks and Caicos. The 183-room Andaz Sanya Sunny Bay, located in a large-scale mixed-use resort community on Hainan Island in China, will be complemented by the 196-room Park Hyatt Sanya Sunny Bay and branded villas. Slated to open in 2013, Andaz Delhi, a 323-room hotel with an additional 118 Andaz-branded apartments, will be located in India’s second-largest metropolis which is also a leading economic centre.
 
Jakarta Airport To Expand Further Return to Headlines
The airport authority of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Jakarta, Indonesia, plans to further expand the airport's Terminal 3. Upon completion of the approximately US$32 million project, Terminal 3 is expected to be expanded from three piers to five piers. The airport authority is currently drawing up a new design for the expansion project.
 
WORLDHOTELS Expands Japan Portfolio Return to Headlines
WORLDHOTELS has expanded its Japan portfolio with the addition of four properties from the destination's renowned local chain, RIHGA Royal Hotels, in Osaka, Tokyo, Kyoto and Hiroshima. The 973-key RIHGA Royal Hotel Osaka and 126-key RIHGA Royal Hotel Tokyo have joined WORLDHOTELS's deluxe collection, while the 484-key RIGHA Royal Hotel Kyoto and 488-room RIHGA Hotel Hiroshima have joined the first class collection.
 
InterContinental To Open First Property In Sanya Return to Headlines
InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) will open its first InterContinental-branded property in Sanya, China on 1 July 2010. Developed as an eco-friendly resort, InterContinental Sanya Resort will feature 343 rooms, including 24 beachside villas, eight food and beverage outlets and a spa and fitness centre. IHG now has 18 properties under the InterContinental brand in China, including one in Hangzhou and Suzhou which will open this year.
