Alila Villas Bintan To Open In 2011 Return to Headlines
Bukit Uluwatu Villa, a luxury villa and hotel developer and operator, will be opening the Alila Villas Bintan in mid-2011. The company has acquired Bukit Lagoi Villa for US$11 million for the development of the new resort, which will feature 50 villas and 12 residential units. Construction work for the approximately US$38.5 million development is expected to start at the end of this year. Other upcoming projects by the company include the expansion of Alila Ubud and a new 60-room development in Manado.
 
Swiss-Garden Adds Serviced Apartments To Portfolio Return to Headlines
Swiss-Garden International Hotels, Resorts & Inns (Swiss Garden) has added serviced apartments to its portfolio with the Swiss-Garden Hotel & Residences Kuala Lumpur scheduled to open in April or May next year. The hotel, which will be an extension of the former Swiss-Garden Hotel Kuala Lumpur, will feature a new wing offering 478 units of one- and two-bedroom apartments. With six properties currently in Malaysia, the group is looking to expand into other countries such as Vietnam, Thailand and China.
 
New Addition To Preferred Hotel Group’s Portfolio Return to Headlines
Sterling Hotels, a member of Preferred Hotel Group, has added the Oriental Hotel Hiroshima in Japan to its portfolio. The 227-guestroom hotel will appeal to both business and leisure travellers as it is conveniently located along Heiwa Odori, the main street in Hiroshima. The hotel was the creation of some of Japan's best designers, including famous interior designer Shigeru Uchida. The Oriental Hotel Hiroshima is a welcome addition to the group’s existing hotels outside Tokyo, including Sapporo and Yokohama.
 
New Resort Development In Myanmar Return to Headlines
Pearl Laguna Resort is building a US$15 million five-star resort in southern Myanmar, the largest tourism development in the Tanintharyi Division. The resort, which has yet to be named, will be opening in phases, starting with 60 rooms in the first phase. The resort will feature three room categories – standard, suite and superior suite – and facilities such as a convention centre, meeting rooms and a shopping centre with duty-free shops.
 
Deluxe Business Hotel To Open In Klang Return to Headlines
The Première Hotel, a MYR75 million development, will open in Klang, Malaysia in October this year. The 18-floor deluxe business hotel, which will feature 250 rooms and suites, is WCT Land Sdn Bhd’s first foray into the hotel industry. Located at Jalan Langat, Bandar Bukit Tinggi in Klang, the hotel is within close proximity to Giant hypermarket and the Aeon Bukit Tinggi Shopping Centre. The hotel will also have more than 1,689 square metres of pillar-free meeting space, offering a prime venue for meetings and conferences, as well as weddings for up to 1,500 persons.
