Sheraton Adds Two New Hotels In Japan Return to Headlines
Starwood Hotels & Resorts announced the openings of two new Sheraton hotels in Japan under a franchise agreement with Kintetsu Hotel Systems, Inc., the hotel operating division of Kintetsu Corporation. The Miyako Tokyo Hotel will be re-flagged as the Sheraton Miyako Hotel Tokyo, providing 492 rooms and meeting facilities in one of Tokyo's busiest neighbourhoods. The Sheraton Miyako Hotel Osaka, previously known as the Miyako Osaka Hotel, will offer 575 rooms to guests visiting Osaka, Japan's second largest city and one of its most important industrial centres. Both hotels will be re-flagged in April 2007.

Banyan Tree Gets Nod For US$270 Million Vietnam Resort Return to Headlines
Banyan Tree Holdings has obtained formal approval to develop a US$270 million resort near the beachside city of Danang on Vietnam's central coast, cementing an earlier memorandum of understanding. The Laguna Vietnam will include a Banyan Tree resort and spa, an Angsana resort and spa, a golf hotel and 18-hole golf course. Two more hotels will be operated by other brands. Residential villas and other housing will also be offered for sale. Banyan Tree has already begun the master-planning and design work, and construction is expected to start within 12 months. It will take place in three phases and could span up to 15-18 years. The 200-hectare site is 35 km north of Danang International Airport.

W To Open In Guangzhou Return to Headlines
The W Guangzhou will make its debut in 2010, offering 320 guest rooms and 167 luxury residences. Located in China's largest southern coastal city, Zhujiang New Town, the W Guangzhou will be the cornerstone of a new upscale, mixed-use complex, which will feature luxury boutiques and shops. Developed as an extension of the existing central business district, Zhujiang New Town is anticipated to become the new recreation and entertainment centre in Guangzhou with existing facilities such as the Warner Brothers Movie Theatre, retail malls, entertainment venues, a high-end residential development, and the Guangzhou Opera House and Museum.

Raffles To Manage Penthouse Hotel In Tianjin City Return to Headlines
Raffles Hotels & Resorts has extended its footprint in China with the iconic Raffles Tianjin Hotel. Located on top of Tianjin Centre, Raffles Tianjin sits right in the heart of the city, at the junction of Nanjing Road and Guiyang Road - in Heping District, the city's most important business and retail district. The urban area of Tianjin is the third largest municipality in mainland China, and is a two-hour drive from Beijing.

Outrigger To Manage New Luxury Resort In Bali Return to Headlines
Outrigger Enterprises Group announced that it plans to manage a brand-new luxury resort condominium property in Bali, called the Outrigger Panorama Bali Resort & Spa, which is being developed by the Balinese development company mc2, a local development company in Bali. Outrigger also plans to own 35 of the 170 planned resort condominium units. The new resort is Outrigger's second project in Bali; Outrigger also plans to manage the Outrigger O-CE-N Resort in Legian, Bali, which is slated to open in mid-2007.
