Flag Choice Hotels adds three properties in Australia Return to Headlines
Flag Choice Hotels has added three properties to its Sydney portfolio, bringing to 14 hotels and serviced apartments. The new properties include the 114-serviced apartment Meriton Suites World Tower which was opened late last year; the 172-studio Meriton Suites Rialto, located in nearby Bathurst Street and 180-room Meriton Suites The Tiffany at Bondi Junction. All three hotels will be renamed under Clarion Collection brand.

Accor to enter the Indian Hotel Market Return to Headlines
According to Economic Times (ET), Accor is planning to enter the Indian hotel market. The group proposes to promote Ibis, Novotel, Sofitel and Mercure brands across the South Asian region. The ET also reported that the group planned to construct develop and own hotels on selected sites in the country.

Raffles Resort Canouan Island opens Return to Headlines
Raffles International opens a resort in the Caribbean. Raffles Resort Canouan Island is located in The Grenadines, a hundred miles west of Barbados. The resort comprises 156 rooms including one-bedrooms, suites and villas, four restaurants and bars. In addition, Raffles International is also operating Raffles Amrita Spa and the new Trump International Golf Club at Raffles Resort Canouan Island.

MFS to acquire ski resort in Japan Return to Headlines
Queensland-based MFS plans to build an 8000-bed ski resort in Japan. The company plans to acquire the Harmony Resorts Niseko Pty Ltd in Hokkaido, which owns the Niseko Hanazono ski field though its subsidiary, Australian Alpine Enterprises. The acquisition will include a ski-lifting business, resort leisure facilities and a fully serviced and subdivided parcel of freehold development land. The group has recently taken control of Victorian ski resorts Falls Creek and Mt Hotham in May.

Phuket Tourism Development Return to Headlines
According to the Nation newspaper, THB5 billion is expected to flow into new tourist related developments in Phuket by 2006. Several projects have been proposed including an aquarium attraction, marina in Chalong Bay, medical tourism, expansion of Phuket Boat Lagoon and Yacht Haven Marina. With the proposed projects, the tourism authority anticipates the average tourist stays to increase from 3 to 6.5 days in 2007 and to raise average spending per day from THB3,000 to THB4,200.

Taiwan Civil Aeronautics Administration invites bidders Return to Headlines
Taiwan's Civil Aeronautics Administration (CAA) is inviting bidders for a project to run a mixed use development at the Chiang Kai-shek International Airport. CAA plans to transform its existing transit hotel into a multi-function aviation industry operations center including a hotel, shopping mall, a business operation center and recreational facilities.
