Maldives Launches New Tourism Brand Return to Headlines

The Maldives has unveiled its new tourism slogan and logo. The previous logo had been used for 11 years and officials felt the need for a revamp to boost business. Following a year-long consultation and design process, the new slogan, 'Maldives - Always Natural', is accompanied by a fish-inspired logo which aims to highlight the country's natural environment. According to The Maldives Marketing and PR Corporation, the slogan and logo are designed to underscore the outstanding natural beauty of the Maldives, which tourists from all segments of the market consistently rate as one of their main reasons for visiting the country.

 
Ascott To Open Third Citadines Serviced Residence In Xi'an, China Return to Headlines

The Ascott Group has announced that it will open its third Citadines Serviced Residence in Xi'an, China. The 138-unit Citadines Xingqing Palace Xi'an is a five-minute walk to the historic Xingqing Palace Park, a popular tourist attraction built on the ruins of the palace dating back to the Tang dynasty. The serviced residence is also close to many shopping and entertainment outlets such as the Lifeng International Shopping Square, Jiaoda Computer Mall and Hongye Cinema. Each of the units, which range from studio to two-bedroom apartments, will feature a fully equipped kitchen, an en suite bathroom and separate work and sleeping areas. Ascott currently also operates Citadines Central Xi'an (162 units) and Citadines Gaoxin Xi'an (251 units), while Somerset Gaoxin Xi'an (233 units) is expected to open in 2013.

 
Hyatt To Debut In Abu Dhabi With Park Hyatt Abu Dhabi Hotel And Villas Return to Headlines

Hyatt Hotels and Resorts and Abu Dhabi National Hotels have announced the opening of Park Hyatt Abu Dhabi Hotel and Villas. Located on the natural island of Saadiyat in Abu Dhabi, Park Hyatt Abu Dhabi Hotel and Villas is located on a nine-kilometre stretch of environmentally protected white sand beach. The island property reflects Hyatt's authentic and elegant approach to hospitality. In addition to the 306 luxuriously appointed rooms (including 39 suites and four private luxury villas), the hotel also presents a first class array of dining options serving a wide selection of cuisines from around the world -The Park Bar & Grill, The Café, Beach House and The Library.

 
Singapore Records More International Visitor Arrivals In Second Quarter Return to Headlines
Singapore recorded 3.2 million international visitor arrivals in Q2 2011, a growth of 14% year-on-year. Indonesia, PR China, Malaysia, Australia and India were Singapore's top five international visitor-generating markets for the first six months of the year, accounting for 54% of international visitors. Tourism receipts for the second quarter were estimated at S$5 billion, up 18% year-on-year, while tourism receipts for the first six months of 2011 were S$11 billion, reflecting a year-on-year increase of 32%. Gazetted hotel room revenue for the second quarter recorded at S$0.6 billion, an increase of 33% with June posting the highest ARR, AOR and RevPAR in the second quarter. ARR was S$246 in the quarter, up 14%. AOR was 86% in the second quarter and RevPAR increased 12% to reach S$212.
 
St. Regis To Open In Tianjin, China Return to Headlines
Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc has announced the opening of The St. Regis Tianjin. The property was designed by renowned architecture firm Skidmore, Owings and Merrill. The 274-room hotel will also be the first in Tianjin to introduce the signature St. Regis Butler Service and the largest Presidential Suite in Tianjin. The St. Regis Tianjin features the signature Iridium Spa managed by Touch Spa, a five-star luxury spa designed for maximum comfort and wellbeing.
