Hyatt To Debut In Mongolia Return to Headlines

Hyatt Hotels Corporation is set to open its first two properties in Mongolia by 2015. The Hyatt Regency Ulaanbaatar will open in 2014 and be located in the centre of the Mongolian capital. The 259-key property, which will include 22 serviced apartments, will be part of the MAK Tower mixed-use development. The second property, the Hyatt Regency Ulaanbaatar Turtle Rock, will be located in Mongolia's Terelj National Park, 40 kilometres from Ulaanbaatar. The 131-key resort hotel will feature an additional 30 traditional Mongolian gers and is expected to open in 2015.

 
Hyatt's Andaz Brand Launched In Asia Return to Headlines

Hyatt Hotels Corporation debuted its Andaz brand in Asia with the opening of the 307-key Andaz Shanghai. Located in Xintiandi, the new property will feature guestrooms and suites overlooking the city, three food and beverage outlets, meeting rooms and relaxation facilities, including a spa which will feature Traditional Chinese Medicine methods. Additionally, the Andaz Shanghai will feature artwork centred around the theme of 'Collective New Media Art', created using mixed media such as LED lighting, video projections, recycled materials and sensors.

 
Indonesia Named Official Partner Country Of ITB Berlin 2013 Return to Headlines

Dr Sapta Nirwandar, Director General of Tourism Marketing of the Ministry for Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Indonesia, and Dr Martin Buck, Vice President of the Competence Centre Travel & Logistics, have signed a preliminary agreement to appoint Indonesia as the official partner country of ITB Berlin 2013. Indonesia hopes to use this appointment as a platform to increase the country's popularity on the German and international markets and to promote the country's tourism products.

 
Banyan Tree To Open Kuala Lumpur Property Return to Headlines
Banyan Tree Holdings and Lumayan Indah Sdn Bhd have signed an agreement to open a hotel-cum-residence property in Kuala Lumpur. The Banyan Tree Signatures Pavilion Kuala Lumpur will house the Banyan Tree Residences and Banyan Tree Signatures Hotel and is expected to open by 2016. The property will be located in Bukit Bintang, in the Golden Triangle of Kuala Lumpur. Additionally, the Banyan Tree Signatures Hotel will have a private link bridge, where guests and residents can have easy access to the shopping centre, Pavilion Kuala Lumpur.
 
Sri Lanka's Oldest Airport To Go International Return to Headlines
Ratmalana Airport, Sri Lanka's oldest and former international airport located in Colombo, is undergoing improvements to accommodate small-scale international operations. The domestic airport is undergoing runway renovations and will feature a new first-class terminal and be ready for international flights from private jets and small aircraft by the end of October 2011. Currently, the Bandaranaike International Airport, which replaced Ratmalana Airport as Colombo's international airport, is the only international airport in Sri Lanka.
 
Peach Aviation To Operate Domestic Flights Return to Headlines
ANA-backed low-cost carrier, Peach Aviation, has been given the go-ahead to operate flights on two domestic routes next year. The airline has been given slots at Sapporo's Shin-Chitose Airport and Fukuoka Airport, and will operate flights to and from its home base at Osaka's Kansai Airport. Starting in March 2012, the Osaka-Sapporo route will feature thrice daily flights, while the Osaka-Fukuoka route will be operated four times a day. Peach Aviation is expected to commence international flights to Seoul by May 2012.
