Shun Tak Unveils New Hotel Company Return to Headlines
Shun Tak Holdings has announced the launch of its first branded hotel management company - Artyzen Hospitality Group. Under this new entity, Shun Tak will both own and operate luxury hotels across key Asian gateway cities under a series of yet-to-be-announced hotel brands. Shun Tak has been involved in the hotel sector, as a stakeholder in a number of properties such as the Mandarin Oriental Macau, Westin Resort Macau and Hong Kong SkyCity Marriott Hotel. The formation of Artyzen comes after the announcement of Shun Tak's investment in Jetstar Hong Kong earlier this year.

Holiday Inn Express Debuts in Singapore Return to Headlines

Holiday Inn Express has opened its first property in Singapore with the 221-room Holiday Inn Express Singapore Orchard Road. Located on the main shopping street Orchard Road, the property features complimentary Wi-Fi, vending machines and a meeting room for up to 12 people. This is IHG's third Holiday Inn Express property in Southeast Asia, after debuting in Bangkok and Phuket. The brand will open its second property in Singapore with the Holiday Inn Express Singapore Clarke Quay scheduled for the first quarter of 2014. Holiday Inn Express currently has a pipeline of 17 properties in Southeast Asia, covering Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore.

 
Malaysia Airlines Continues Asia Pacific Expansion Return to Headlines

Malaysia Airlines (MAS) will continue on its expansion in Asia Pacific with the launch of additional flight routes to two destinations: Auckland and Yangon. MAS will also expand in China, following the start of a new codeshare agreement with Xiamen Airlines for flights to Fuzhou and Xiamen. MAS has started an initiative to enhance air connectivity with key international markets via codesharing agreements to expand their network and increase tourist arrivals in Malaysia. Since cutting several flight routes in early 2012 due to a cost-cutting strategy, MAS has been gradually boosting operations across the Asia Pacific region including launching new flights to Kathmandu and Kochi and resuming flights to Dubai and Darwin.

 
YOTEL to Expand in Asia Return to Headlines

High-tech budget hotel concept, YOTEL, has announced plans to debut in Asia. YOTEL will launch in Singapore, with a 600-cabin hotel in Orchard Road, due to open in 2018. YOTEL cabins are aimed at providing a flexible and convenient 'first class' hotel experience at affordable prices and are inspired by first class airline cabins. A management agreement has been signed listing Yat Yuen Hong Company Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Hong Fok Corporation Limited, as the operator of the first YOTEL in Asia. YOTEL currently has properties in three European airports - London Heathrow, London Gatwick and Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, and recently opened a 669-cabin hotel in Time Square, New York.

 
Tunes Hotels Expands in Philippines Return to Headlines

Tune Hotels has continued with its expansion in the Philippines with the launch of its first property in the Cagayan De Oro, located on the southern island of Mindanao. Tune Hotels entered the Philippines in early 2012 and currently has four properties in Manila and Cebu. The Tune Hotel Cagayan De Oro features 159 rooms, a restaurant and a function room that can accommodate up to 30 people. Tune Hotels in Philippines is owned and operated by Red Planet Hotels and new hotels are expected to launch in Quezon City, Oritgas and Davao in the next two years. Tune Hotels currently has a portfolio of 31 hotels in seven countries - Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, India, Australia, the Philippines and the UK.
