Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts Debuts in Sri Lanka and Indonesia

Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts marked its debut in the Sri Lankan capital of Colombo with the opening of the Mövenpick Hotel Colombo, last week. Owned by Softlogic Group, the 24-storey building features 219 rooms and suites, seven restaurants and bars, approximately 441 square meters of meeting space, a fitness center, a spa, a salon, and a rooftop infinity pool. This is the group’s third hotel in South Asia, after India and Pakistan. The property is also the first new international five-star hotel in Colombo to open in 25 years.

Earlier this month, the group also held the opening ceremony for its very first property in Bali, Indonesia. The Mövenpick Resort & Spa Jimbaran Bali opened with 297 rooms and suites, and is a three-minute walk from Jimbaran Bay and a 20-minute drive from the Ngurah Rai International Airport. One of the key features of the resort includes a 2,900-square-meter free-form swimming pool with an artificial beach area and a lap pool. This hotel comprises one of the eight properties in the group’s pipeline over the next three years across Thailand, Malaysia, Philippines and Vietnam. By 2020, Mövenpick plans to triple its portfolio in Southeast Asia to over 30 operating properties.

AccorHotels Opens the ibis Kochi City Centre in Kerala, India

AccorHotels announced the opening of its first hotel in Kerala – the ibis Kochi City Centre in Kochi. Owned by InterGlobe Hotels and located on Ernakulam’s commercial hub, MG Road, the hotel features 115 rooms, an all-day dining restaurant, a fitness center and approximately 115 square meters of meeting space. In addition to being an upcoming smart city and a commercial hub, Kochi is also the state headquarters of the Indian Coast Guard and home to the Southern Naval Command of the Indian Navy. Tourism is an important contributor to the city’s economy since Kochi is used as an entry and exit point for tourists travelling to major leisure destinations in the state, such as Munnar, Thekkady, Marari, Alleppey and Kumarakom.

Carlson Rezidor Opens the Radisson Blu Faridabad in Haryana

Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group and Eros Group announced the opening of the Radisson Blu Faridabad in Faridabad, Haryana. The hotel features 124 rooms and suites, two restaurants, a bar, a tea lounge, a swimming pool, a fitness center and a spa, and a 6,000-square-foot ballroom in addition to smaller meeting rooms. Faridabad is an industrial town in the Indian state of Haryana, and is a part of the National Capital Region (NCR).

CNT Establishes Zhongwei Hotels Group for Asset Integration

In order to further promote the integration and optimization of diversified hotel assets under its portfolio, the China National Tobacco Corporation (CNT) established Zhongwei Hotels Group for its hotel business integration. Currently operating with four brands – ZhongWei, WeiEssence, WeiSelect and WeiCasa, Zhongwei Hotels Group has formulated a brand development strategy for integration. Over 20 hotels ranging from midscale to upscale categories, spread across 15 provinces and municipalities, including Beijing, Guangdong, Yunnan, Jiangsu, Gansu, Shaanxi and Shandong, were the first to be integrated into the group. In addition to self-managed hotels, Zhongwei Hotels Group also plans to expand its presence as an operator, relying on its strong management expertise. Furthermore, to gain access to and share frequent customer information among its 45 member hotels, the group has launched Rewards Club – a customer loyalty program designed to offer exclusive member-only services with unique Chinese characteristics.
