Washington, D.C., Monday, January 20, 2010: David Fuller, Managing Director of HVS’ hotel consulting and valuation office in Washington, has been chosen to serve as a member of the Leadership Council of the Department of Tourism and Hospitality Management and the International Institute of Tourism Studies at the School of Business, The George Washington University.
“The Leadership Council plays an instrumental role in keeping our curriculum and research and development abreast of the global tourism industry,” said Larry Yu, chair of the GW Department of Tourism and Hospitality Management. “Mr. Fuller is an experienced hotel market analyst with a passion for education. His involvement in the Leadership Council will contribute to furthering the Hotel Management concentration in the Master of Tourism Administration program in our department.”
Mr. Fuller graduated from Cornell University’s School of Hotel Administration. He is a designated member of the Appraisal Institute (MAI) and the author of the HVS Employment-Hotel Growth Index, a means of analyzing data on employment trends, office space absorption, and hotel supply to forecast demand levels in metropolitan markets.
“It’s an honor to draw from my hospitality background to advance scholarship at the university,” said Mr. Fuller. “I’ve been in the business of hotel feasibility studies and valuations for nearly 20 years and look forward to bringing my perspective to the council.”
The Leadership Council serves as an advisory body to provide strategic directions to the Department and the Institute in the fields of tourism, hospitality, event and sport management education, and research. Mr. Fuller’s term on the council will extend over the 2010 to 2013 academic years, during which time he will contribute to such initiatives as advising on current and future tourism and hospitality trends, curriculum development, research, partnerships and alliances for program development, and professional opportunities.
