The New York (Mineola) office of HVS International was founded by Steve Rushmore in 1980 and represents the firm’s first and largest office. Drawing from Rushmore’s 30+ years of hotel consulting, appraisal and ownership experience, the professional staff offers a wide-range of services including market and feasibility studies, highest and best use analyses, appraisals, strategic planning management contract and franchise negotiations.

Rushmore literally “wrote the book” on hotel market studies and valuations, financing and ownership. His eight textbooks represent the industry standard, and as a result, the New York office specializes in litigation support and expert testimony. Rushmore has qualified in over 70 courts of law and has given more than 200 depositions. His litigation team thoroughly researches the issues, develops a convincing position and supports the position with comprehensive data and personal experience. Over the past 20 years, HVS has played a role in many of the most important hotel litigation disputes.

The New York office has the capability of handling large portfolio assignments. With more than 20 hotel-trained consultants, we have completed packages of more than 70 hotels in 30 days. Our portfolio analyses are performed efficiently and comprehensively. Unlike other hotel-consulting firms, we do not utilize part-timers or outside stringers to handle these large workloads. As a result, our findings and conclusions are totally consistent, our reports are completely uniform and the assignments are completed on time.

In addition to our consulting and valuation practice, the New York office is part of the Lodging Data Bank, a comprehensive database of thousands of sales transactions, actual financial statements, management contracts, leases and other important hotel information.
