Brett Russell is a Senior Vice President and a primary project and client manager with the HVS Denver Consulting and Valuation office. Brett is a Certified General Appraiser.

Brett’s work includes property appraisals and market and feasibility consulting, with an emphasis on proposed hotel and resort assets. He enjoys being involved in the hotel development process from the initial stages, including determining the best possible project for a site. Brett also has experience in the redevelopment of historic buildings, having worked on such projects in Albuquerque, Denver, and Buffalo. Brett also gained extensive experience in helping develop publicly financed hotels in such cities as Branson, Missouri and Denver. Brett has been involved in developments and transactions in top resort markets within both the Caribbean and the United States, including the U.S. Virgin Islands, Las Vegas, and Florida.

Brett has worked on numerous mixed-use projects involving condominiums and hotels, and recreational facilities such as golf courses and ski resorts. His mixed-use experience includes the Doral Golf Resort and Spa in Miami; the PGA National Golf Resort in Palm Springs, Florida; the Mammoth Ski Resort in Mammoth Lakes, California; the Steamboat Springs Ski Resort in Steamboat Springs, Colorado; and several properties in Aspen, Colorado. The HVS office in Boulder, Colorado is central to many of the West’s top ski resorts, and Brett has conducted extensive research for ski resort development projects and performed appraisals of ski resort operations.

A graduate of the University of Mount Union, Brett blends his business education and professional experience to provide clients with valuable opinions. His operations and development experience with Tharaldson Hospitality revolved around the development and opening of new Residence Inn by Marriott hotels throughout the mid-western and southwestern United States.

Brett grew up in the Buffalo area before moving to central Ohio for college and remaining in the Cleveland area for several years. Upon moving out west, he settled with his family in the Denver area. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his wife, two sons, and daughter; volunteering for community events and his children’s sport teams; skiing and snowboarding; and serving as captain of his ice hockey team.
