Mr. Hans Detlefsen, MPP

Hans Detlefsen, MPP, is Managing Director of HVS Global Hospitality Services in Chicago, which is dedicated to objective and independent hotel appraisals and consulting assignments. His clients include major hotel corporations, investment banks, lenders, equity investors, owners, operators, tourism agencies, nonprofit organizations, state and local governments, and private developers.

Mr. Detlefsen's team is engaged in a wide range of assignments involving complex consulting advisory work as well as straight-forward appraisal assignments. The team has experience in a range of land uses including hotels, conference centers, retail, and mixed-use development projects. HVS also has more experience than any other firm in consulting for convention headquarters hotels. Areas of focus include strategic planning research for major hotel corporations, strategic advisory work for banks, foreclosure situations, lease negotiations, management contract consulting, mixed-use developments, portfolio valuations, public-private partnerships, waterpark analyses, feasibiilty studies, appraisals, and custom survey research. Mr. Detlefsen frequently speaks to industry groups and has been quoted in numerous local and national news sources. Hans and his staff work in all 50 states and in several international markets.

Hans and his wife Emily and daughter Eleanor live in Chicago's Hyde Park neighborhood, located on the City's south side. They enjoy cooking, debating public policy, and going to White Sox games.
