Minor Hotels Debuts in India with the Oaks Bodhgaya in Bodhgaya, Bihar, India

Minor Hotels marked its debut in India with the opening of the Oaks Bodhgaya in Bodhgaya, Bihar. Developed in partnership with GP Group and Top Travel & Tours for US$6.7 million, the hotel is situated seven kilometres south of Bihar’s Gaya International Airport. The Oaks Bodhgaya offers 78 rooms with base category rooms measuring approximately 30m2, an all-day dining restaurant, a 160-square-meter meeting room, a fitness centre and a rooftop space for meditation. Bodhgaya is one of the four pilgrimage sites related to the life of Gautam Buddha alongside Kushinagar, Lumbini and Sarnath, and is, therefore, one of the most popular pilgrimage sites in South East Asia.

G6 Hospitality Signs Development Agreement with Auromatrix Holdings Pvt. Ltd. for India Expansion

G6 Hospitality signed an area development agreement with Chennai-based Auromatrix Holdings Pvt. Ltd. for expanding its portfolio in India. As per the agreement, the partnership will comprise a total of 40 hotels in India by 2022 under the brands Hotel 6, Motel 6 and Studio 6. As per G6 Hospitality, Hotel 6, Motel 6 and Studio 6 operations in the country are designed to suit the specific needs of travelers in India. Auromatrix is a commercial hotel developer, hotel and resort owner and management operator in India while G6 Hospitality currently operates over 1,350 properties across the Americas. 

Park Hotel Group’s Latest Brand to Debut in Singapore

Destination – a select service, midscale brand by Park Hotel Group will open its first hotel in Singapore by the second quarter of 2017. It will be the hotel company’s third brand in the portfolio, which aims to deliver affordable and quality accommodation in central locations. Destination Singapore Beach Road, Park Hotel Group’s sixth hotel in Singapore, was recently signed under a hotel management contract with FG Property No. 1 Pte Ltd whose parent company is Master Contract Services Pte Ltd – a recognized entity in Singapore’s property development and construction industry. The 300-room hotel will be in close proximity to cultural areas such as Haji Lane and Arab Street as well as the Central Business District and Marina Bay area, making the hotel’s location advantageous for business and leisure travellers. This year, Park Hotel Group is also expected to open another three hotels in Singapore, Maldives and Seoul.

Hard Rock International Takes Interests to Japan

On 30 January 2017, Hard Rock International announced the launch of Hard Rock Japan LLC to back the company’s expansion plans in Asia. With the recent green light given to Japan’s Integrated Resorts Promotion Bill and the company’s strong history of developing and managing distinguished entertainment and hospitality properties globally, Hard Rock International strives to be a major competitor in bidding for resort licenses. The brand is familiar to the local market through its first Japanese café in Tokyo in partnership with WDI Group in 1983. Currently, the group has six Hard Rock Café locations in operation, 24 hotels and 11 casinos around the globe.  

Tauzia Hotel Management Launches New Hotel Brand: Harris Vertu

Harris Vertu Hotels – the sixth brand of Indonesia’s Tauzia Hotel Management will focus on technology. The new concept will provide hotel guests with multi-purpose lobby areas, inclusive of a business centre and lounge. Harris Vertu is aimed to target the modern, savvy business and leisure travelers by delivering customer experience through heightened level of comfort, convenience and efficiency in a new, friendly and social atmosphere. The flagship hotel of the brand will be located in Central Jakarta. The Vertu Rooms and Vertu Suites are expected to be approximately 36 square metres and 56 square metres in size, respectively. Tauzia Hotel Management plans to expand the brand overseas by 2019 aimed to strengthen the company’s presence worldwide.

IHG Opens the Crowne Plaza Vientiane Hotel in Laos

InterContinental Hotels Group announced the opening of Crowne Plaza Vientiane Hotel on 1 Feb 2017. Owned by BIM Group and located 10-minute drive from Wattay International Airport, Crowne Plaza Vientiane is the first international branded hotel in the capital city offering quality accommodation and a comprehensive range of facilities to meet the needs of business and leisure travelers to Laos. The hotel features 197 rooms, two restaurants, a bar, a ballroom and six fully-equipped meeting spaces, a swimming pool and fitness center.
